The BM library:
a great learning resource

The Library provides a collaborative space where classes come with their teachers to do research as well as a welcoming environment for both day and boarding students during their free time. It has a comprehensive collection of up to date resources as well as online databases which are curriculum related, and also novels, comics, and magazines of interest to teenagers and young adults. Our professional Librarian works closely with teachers to promote literacy and to help our students to develop their research skills. Every year, we welcome an author in our school during our Reading Week, a week filled with activities and games to foster the love of books.

Middle School

At BM, get a head start with our Middle School Programme

The Middle School welcomes students between the ages of 12-14 into a warm, caring environment. There is a family feel in the Middle School and we want the younger members of our school community to feel integrated, happy and settled. Their well-being is of great importance and we do all we can to help them flourish and become confident, responsible individuals.

The academic programme incorporates a broad range of subjects and provision is made for students who need to develop their English skills, thanks to the EAL (English as an Additional Language) programme.

After class, Middle School students participate in extra-curricular activities, many of which develop leadership skills. The Middle School aims to instil a love of learning and sound study skills on which to build. By the end of the Middle School years, students are prepared to enter the High School.

Throughout the High School, students have the opportunity to prepare for external, internationally recognised examinations. Click to find out more about:

ICT is an integral component of all courses. Sports and PSHE classes are compulsory for all students. All teaching is in English. In addition to their academic programmes, all students follow extra-curricular activities, many of which develop leadership skills.

After Brillantmont

Check into which universities our students have been accepted in recent years.

Life goes on after Brillantmont

100% of our graduating class continue into Higher Education all over the world, with a small minority choosing to take a gap year. We are committed to providing maximum assistance to enable students to enter the university of their choice, wherever that may be.

Preparation for university and college entry begins in the penultimate year, when students are encouraged to think about where they would like to go and which course of study they would like to pursue. Our librarian is on-hand to assist students who wish to access university multimedia materials. Each year various university fairs and Open Days within the region provide further information and universities from all over the world regularly visit Brillantmont to give presentations to groups of potential students. Wherever a student’s choices lie, the school helps them and their families to organise visits either on official Open Days or on an individual basis

At all stages of the university planning process, students receive completely personalised support from our Deputy Director, assisted by our Student Well-Being and Pastoral Care Co-Ordinator. Both provide guidance and help students identify their strengths and interests, exploring all possible options. Students are closely supported in the preparation of their Personal Statements for university applications and also practice the communication skills, interview techniques and role play situations they will need later at the academic interview stage.

“Being accepted at Oxford for an MSc in Integrated Immunology is due in no small part to the wonderful education I received during my four years at BM. I had the benefit of receiving the support and dedication of inspirational teachers.”

John, BM alum

“Studying international A Levels meant that I had covered much more material than many of my peers when I started university in the UK.”

Fraser, BM alum, working for Siemens

“Leaving the family home is usually a stressful experience, but not when you find yourself in much bigger international family that supports you during every difficult stage of adolescence. From this perspective, I always viewed BM as a starting point of my journey into adult life: an excellent academic record, friends for life, the opportunity to engage into virtually every single extra curricular activity possible. It gave me the chance to become an individual and not just another graduate. Since I left BM I’ve been affiliated with other academic institutions since, yet the warmest memories are with my BM years.”

Valeriya, BM alum, intern at Chatham House, UK
